When electronica 2016 trade show opens its gates in Munich from November 8 to 11, Finisar will be exhibiting for the first time, joining over 2,800 other international exhibitors. More than 70,000 visitors are expected at this year’s show, branded as the “World’s Leading Trade Fair for Electronic Components, Systems and Applications”. It features the latest embedded solutions and products for the Internet of Things (IoT), industrial electronics, and wireless connectivity. The motto is “Connected Worlds — Safe and Secure”. There is no better theme for Finisar who is the global leader in fiber optical components and subsystems that connect the world through telecommunication and data communication networks.
Finisar will be exhibiting fiber optic solutions for industrial applications such as factory automation, medical equipment, transportation and energy. Finisar’s laser-based solutions are optimal for tomorrow’s industrial applications because they need higher data rates, longer distances, lower power consumption and more intelligence. Endurance® rugged and compact optical transceivers operate from Fast Ethernet to 10 Gigabit Ethernet and over link distances from 100 meters to 10 kilometers. Like all of Finisar’s transceivers, Endurance includes digital diagnostic functions that allow the link to be monitored for anomalies and assist in troubleshooting. The board-mounted Endurance is designed to operate over wide operating temperature and in harsh environments.
In addition, Finisar will be showing fiber optic solutions that connect base stations to remote radio antennas for cellular networks, also known as wireless backhaul and front-haul. Finisar’s complete transceiver portfolio covers LTE, LTE-Advanced, and 5G networks. Transceivers are available on different wavelengths which allow wireless operators to deploy Centralized Radio Access Networks (C-RAN) and connect the base station to dozens of radio antennas over a single fiber. The wavelength-tunable versions of these transceivers allow operators to buy a single part number and electronically set the wavelength, reducing inventory and easing operations.
We are excited to show our innovative and leading products to a new audience at electronica. Come visit Finisar at booth number 568 in hall A3.
We are very pleased to announce that Finisar Australia was awarded the 2016 Control Systems, Networks, Information Processing and Telecommunications Excellence Award by the Institute of Engineers Australia NSW Branch. The award, which forms part of the Australian Engineering Excellence Awards was given for the development and commercialisation of the Coherent Optical Measurement System (COMS), which forms the core of our WaveAnalyzer and HR-OCM products.
The award was presented at a gala dinner, attended by over 500 people, at the Sheraton Darling Harbour in October. The photo below shows some the successful engineering team that developed the core technology, along with the trophy and certificate received.
As a winner of the NSW State award, the COMS technology is now in the running for a National award, the results of which will be announced at the Engineers Australia Annual Dinner in Brisbane at the end of November.
Congratulations to everyone involved in the COMS development on winning this award.
